The Problem: A Sunroom That Was Too Hot to Use
Big Canoe is one of North Georgia's most beautiful private mountain communities. The homes are built into the ridgelines with sweeping views and generous glass packages — and this home had one of the most impressive features we see: a large, all-glass sunroom with glass on every wall and across the ceiling.
It should have been the best room in the house.
Instead, it was nearly unusable during the day.
Even with the air conditioning running at full blast, the sunroom sat at 88°F. The glass was acting like a greenhouse — trapping solar heat with nowhere for it to go. The homeowner had essentially written off the room for daytime use, which is a shame for a space that beautiful.
The challenge was specific: they didn't want to lose the light. The room's appeal was its brightness and connection to the surrounding forest. A dark film would solve the heat problem but kill what made the room special. They needed heat control without sacrificing the view or the natural light.
The Solution: ProLayers Clarity IR Max 75
After evaluating the sunroom's glass coverage and sun exposure, we recommended ProLayers Clarity IR Max 75 — a high-performance infrared-rejecting film built specifically for situations like this.

The Installation
An all-glass sunroom is one of the more technically demanding installs we do. The ceiling panels require working at height with precision — every cut has to be exact, every surface has to be perfectly clean before the film goes on. Joe handled the ceiling work from a ladder while Evan managed the wall panels.
As always, the majority of the time went into preparation. The film application itself is fast when the prep is done right.

Before installation, the sunroom was sitting at 88°F with the air conditioning running. After installation, the room settled at a comfortable 74°F — a 14-degree drop under the same conditions.
The homeowner can now use the sunroom throughout the day. The room is bright, comfortable, and connected to the mountain views it was designed to frame. The AC isn't fighting a losing battle anymore.
